The University of Newcastle's assault on the 2008 East Coast Challenge will comprise of squads contesting the following sports:
Basketball - Men & Women
Just falling short of a medal in 2007, Newcastle will be looking to a fresh new squad to challenge for top honours this year. Both men's & women's teams have great potential and will bring quality basketball to Sydney Olympic Park.
Lawn Bowls
Excited to be entering the intensely competitive arena of Lawn Bowls, Newcastle is expecting big things from its chargers this year! Watch our guys and girls tame the greens with precision weighting and immaculate control of the bias...
Hockey - Men & Women
2007 saw outstanding performances by the University of Newcastle in both men's and women's hockey, with the men claiming Gold, as our women came away with a closely-fought Silver. Looking forward once again to some tight battles with CSU, this time aiming to take both Gold medals back up the F3!

Netball - Women & Mixed
Our netballers will be waiting to take on the big guns on court this year! After missing the 2007 Challenge, a decent performance at the Australian University Games on the Gold Coast sets the bar for what should be a thrilling tussle between a number of universities. Watch these ones go down to the wire...
Soccer - Men & Women
After a bronze for the girls in 2007, anything less than a Gold Medal playoff is not an option. Looking for the boys to re-enter the scene in a big way this year!
Touch Football - Men, Women & Mixed
A re-emergence into the touch arena should see Newcastle bringing some representative honours with their team this year. Look for a strong performance, especially by the women's team who will be looking to bring a medal away from Sydney this year!
