Arrive alive is a proud sponsor of the Beachley Classic.
Whilst everyone will be checking out the action from the worlds best female surfers, Arrive alive hopes the messages Layne sends throughout the event will ensure more young female drivers keep safe on our roads.
Becoming a good driver is like becoming a good surfer – it takes lots of practice and lots of experience.
Layne is also an Arrive alive Ambassador and appears at events throughout the year to talk to young women about safe driving and how to minimise the chance of them, their friends or others being injured in a car accident.
"As a female its disturbing to hear girls aged 14-25 are more likely to be injured or killed in car accidents as passengers rather than drivers.
"Although passengers don’t physically control the car they can make potentially dangerous situations safer by assisting the driver to focus on driving. For example if you turn down the music, check the map and give directions and answer their phone if it rings you can make the journey safer.
"To arrive at your destination alive is both the drivers and the passenger's responsibility. As a passenger you can have a voice and make a difference," Layne Beachley said.
