Seatbelts
- Seatbelts decrease the risk of being killed or seriously injured in a crash by around 40 per cent.
- Each year around 500 lives are saved in NSW because people have used occupant restraints. Overall NSW has one of the highest levels of occupant restraint use in the world.
- As a group, male adults (particularly in rural areas) have lower seatbelt wearing rates than the general population. As a result they're over-represented in unrestrained fatalities.
